EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

The Town of Cobourg is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to be responsible for developing financial reports, preparing analysis and reconciliations and providing accounting support to all municipal departments.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Senior Financial Analyst will assist with the preparation of year end consolidated financial statements; the Financial Information Return and Performance Measures; as well as quarterly reporting to Council and monthly reporting to directors and department managers.

Other duties will include the preparation of working papers and documents for the external audit; the ability to act as liaison throughout the financial audit process; to build and maintain productive relationships with all town departments; make presentations both internally and to Council; and assist with various special projects when required.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• a minimum of five years relevant experience, ideally in a municipal environment
• professional accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA)
• a working knowledge of PSAB Section 3150, Tangible Capital Assets preferred
• the ability to analyze and investigate problems and make recommendations for improvements
• strong organizational skills to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
• solid communication skills

This is a new non union position within the Finance Department and as such the pay grade level is subject to a final job evaluation review.
